HP S20 Sample Scans

All the scans on these pages were taken with a Hewlett Packard PhotoSmart S20 Slide Scanner. The only adjustments made were to apply the sharpness filter using the tool in the S20 TWAIN interface. The scans were rotated, where necessary, using the S20 application. No other filters have been applied.

The scanning was carried out under Windows 7 Release Candidate 1. The HJP supplied software for Windows XP was installed in Windows 7 using the Windows XP Service Pack 2 Compatibility mode. This should also work under Vista although I have not tested it (referenced on the Internet state that it does work). Note that not all versions of Vista and Windows 7 support the compatibility modes.

The image on these pages have been scaled so the longer edge is is approximately the size of an A4 sheet. The scanner has optional setting to allow for different qualities of the source, e.g. "Color", "Kodachrome" "Faded and Old", as applicable. All the images on this pages use the "Colour" option; below each image there are links to a series of full size images illustrating the different pre-set qualities the scanner offers. Clicking on the description of any image will display the image full size in a separate window/tab - note that the full size images may be as large as 4MB and take a while to download.
